I used to do all kinds of quizzes when I was in high school. There are still some buried in the depths of my blog, but I only ever really think about them when I sign into my old Yahoo! Notes account or they pop up as broken links. The lovely Beth Anne tagged me, though, so I’m back in a quizzing sort of mood.

That was fun! I haven’t thought about the Czech Republic in a long time. And I can never narrow down which books to recommend, so I went with the first four that popped into my head. Asking me to pick a favorite book is like asking a parent to pick a favorite child.

Thanks for the tag! I felt like my posts were in a link-up rut for a while. This was a solid change of pace.
What stuck out to me the most from your responses were the places you’ve been and the foods you don’t eat.
I don’t think I realized you’d been to those places for vacation! Were these when you were younger and living abroad anyway or were they since living in the US?
Chris doesn’t eat bananas either or anything with bananas in them… so sad because they are so cheap. I love oranges; they are one of my favorite fruits (I actually don’t like orange juice in comparison to how good oranges are). I understand mushrooms; Andrew just ate some for the first time ever the past two days; I also used to strongly dislike them.
Europe is so small that it’s really easy to go between countries. The Czech Republic was a weekend trip with my mom, and England was a whole week in the eighth grade! I lived in Germany at the time. It’s possible to start driving from southern Germany in the morning and have dinner in Africa (Morocco).
Oh, I hate bananas. I re-tried some a few years ago and it was still mushy and smelly. On the other hand, I really like onions. I don’t think they have a bad smell, and they’re almost magical since they look and taste completely differently raw vs. cooked.
So interesting that End of the Affair is on your list – I read it this weekend. Have you read other Graham Greene and would you recommend anything else of his in particular?
I haven’t read any of his other books yet, but I hear great things about The Power and the Glory. If I hadn’t gotten my copy of The End of the Affair from a friend, I probably would have started with that one.
